Should I buy this experience?

Who it's for

If you know a youngster who's already done the usual first drives and supercar driving experiences, these unusual drives just for kids are the ones to try next! Everything goes up a gear (quite literally), as youngsters get to clamber aboard powerful vehicles like fire engines, tractors and lorries. Teens will be grinning from ear to ear after an amazing drive in vehicles that are very different to the usual hatchback!

Who it's not for

Even if your kid lacks confidence or is likely to feel nervous before their experience, don't let that put you off. All the instructors are highly experienced and are very skilled at putting timid or anxious children at ease. What's more, these unusual vehicles are no harder or easier to drive than anything else, so no previous driving experience isn't a barrier either.

How old do you need to be for these unusual kids driving activities?

It depends on the vehicle. Tractor driving is for kids as young as 8 years old. Classic cars, fire engines and HGVs are 10yrs+ and the diggers and military vehicles are from age 12. Make sure you look under the ‘Suitable for’ tab on each product page to check the minimum ages.

Are there minimum height requirements for these unusual vehicles?

Yes. Children will need to be able to reach the pedals and, depending on the type of vehicle it is, could be anywhere from 135 to 142cm. All requirements are under the ‘Suitable for’ tab.

Do the children actually get to drive?

Yes! You’d think the kids spend most of the time stalling the engine, but actually they don’t. Many of the vehicles are automatic with driver aids, so they are fairly straightforward to get moving.

Do you not need to know how to drive or have a driving licence then?

No. Lots of these vehicles are industry or farm machinery and they are quite different to driving a car, so having a licence or knowing how to drive a car is no real advantage and in fact, youngsters often get on better than adults who have been driving for years (and have picked up loads of bad habits!).

Will there be an instructor with them?

Yes, at all times (apart from the mini tanks which kids will be let loose solo in) there will be an expert instructor sitting in the passenger seat alongside the kids. It’s not unusual for some of the vehicles to be kitted out with dual control, making it safe and easy for the instructor to intervene if necessary.

Can we come and watch?

Yes. Proud parents are welcome to watch their offspring drive that unusual vehicle they’ve always dreamed of having a go in. Some venues may have limits of spectator capacity, so make sure to read the info in the ‘Spectators’ tab.
