What's Included
Tractor Driving
- Safety briefing including an introduction to the tractor and its controls
- Practice basic manoeuvres in the tractor
- Try your hand at an obstacle course and drive around the field
- Pick up bales of straw or animal feed and move from one place to another
- 1:1 tuition from an experienced tractor driver
- 60 minutes drive time
- Link up with a trailer and drive the course and try your hand at reversing
Old vs New Tractor Driving
- In addition to the above you will also drive the 1960s Massey Ferguson Tractor

What Can I Expect
Go tractor driving in Dumfries down on the farm! In the heart of Southern Scotland you'll find this busy working beef and sheep farm that has diversified to offer experiences like driving a proper tractor on a proper working farm.
The 600-acre Kirkwood Estate is just south of Lockerbie between Dumfries and Gretna Green. Six generations of the Steel family have farmed here since 1865. Tractors play a huge part in a farmer's life and you'll get a taste of what these agricultural machines can do on your tractor driving experience with the farming team.
We have vouchers to drive the modern tractor that’s the workhorse of the farm, with the opportunity to add on a short drive in a fantastic vintage Massey Ferguson from the 1960s - the tractors that revolutionised farming methods!
We think you’ll find the modern tractor is surprisingly powerful and manoeuvrable for something of its size and you'll love taking the tractor out and about. And of course, if it's been raining (it is Scotland after all) it might well get a bit boggy and muddy out there, which just makes it even more fun.
You won't just be driving this tractor, you'll be executing some classic farming tasks with it too. Try lifting and shifting hay bales. Move animal feed. Have a go at some nifty reversing moves in your tractor. Or even hook up a trailer and have a whizz round with that - not as easy as it looks!
