Woodworking & DIY FAQs

Are these woodworking and DIY experiences suitable for complete beginners?

Yes, absolutely! The majority of these courses and workshops are specifically aimed at absolute beginners. Expert instructors will guide you step-by-step, going through everything from workshop safety, tools handling, design and techniques to complete your project.

What will I actually be making during a woodworking lesson?

What you make depends on the course you choose. From our beginner DIY days focussing on home maintenance and learning how to use power tools and basic DIYing tasks such as hanging pictures and so on, to more specialist woodworking courses to make bespoke wooden pieces, or even specialised artisan courses like making a guitar or tool forging, we have it all.

Do I need to bring my own tools or safety equipment?

No. All the tools and safety gear you need will be provided for you. Your course host will let you know in advance what you need to wear and/or bring with you.

Will I be able to take home what I make?

Yes. Everything you successfully craft and create during these woodworking, tooling and DIY courses is yours to take home and keep, whether it's a custom-made wooden item or a set of hand-forged tools. You'll also leave with the confidence to continue using the skills you've learned!

Do these woodworking courses give you a qualification?

No. Whilst our courses are all taught by highly-qualified specialists in their field, they are designed to be taster experiences. So there's no certificate at the end of it, but you'll learn an awful lot and you'll make some great things too!

Are there any restrictions for these DIY workshops and woodmaking courses?

Most of our courses are tailored for adults 18+ due to the use of power tools and workshop machinery. Exact age restrictions and other guidelines are listed on each individual experience under the 'Suitable for' tab.

Can I exchange my woodworking voucher for a different experience?

Yes. Into The Blue allows you exchange vouchers if the recipient would prefer to leave the woodworking tools in the shed and do something different like drive a supercar or fly a plane. If your voucher is redeemed, you can easily do the exchang via our online portal.

Are the courses physically demanding?

You will be using hand tools, power tools and standing at work stations for these courses. You'll be moving materials around too. This means a moderate level of physical ability and manual dexterity is needed. For any further questions you may have on accessibility, don't hesitate to contact our customer service team.

Where do the woodworking and DIY courses take place?

Experiences are run in actual working workshops, craft studios and forges across the UK including Hampshire, Somerset and Hereforshire. You can see the locations and post code on each product page.
