Who it's not for
If a day just isn’t long enough for you to explore, head over to our Short Breaks section, where you’ll find everything from weekends on horseback, to great value deals on overnight stays in fancy-pants hotels with dinner included.
We’ve put these day trips and day tour packages together to give you a real insight to the place you’re visiting. In general, travel is included, as are the services of a guide who will show you around. Some also include food, which can be anything from a light lunch to a gourmet meal. Please read the full details on each tour page to see what’s included.
Are the tours only to UK destinations?
No! As well as our selection of day trips and tours in the UK, you can go continental! International travel has never been more accessible, so now it's easy to enjoy a day trip to the likes of Paris of Bruges. So whether you choose to go home or away, you are bound to have fun on these away days.
Is transport included?
In the majority of cases, yes. Of course, you will have to get to your departure point yourself, but after that it’s plain sailing, as everything is organised for you and paid for, so you can sit back and enjoy your day.
Will I have to take ID with me?
For the trips abroad you will definitely need a passport that has at least six months validity on it. Please note these requirements may change in the light of Great Britain leaving the EU.
Will someone be showing us around when we get there?
Yes. Often there will be a tour leader on the coach with you who will in charge of your day out. Once you’ve arrived at your destination, many tour operators use expert local guides to host the visit, so you’ll learn all there is to know from someone who’s local and very knowledgeable too.
Are meals included?
Some of our day trips do include a meal. You could be sitting in the lovely Cotswolds enjoying a nice lunch in a fancy restaurant, or cruising gently along the Seine tucking into your romantic French meal for two.
Is accommodation included on these trips and tours?
You won’t be staying overnight on these tours as they are day trips. If you do want to ‘make a weekend of it’ and go somewhere nice for a couple of days, why not have a little look through our fine selection of Hotel Breaks in cities, towns, seaside resorts and country locations around the UK?
Do these trips go by coach?
Where travel is included, the majority of trips are by executive coach, with overseas trips operated by Eurostar train. You’ll notice we’ve also got some quirky excursions like the Ghost Bus Tours, where you’ll be riding on a genuine Routemaster classic double decker bus. Of course, once you get where you’re going, you might be looking around on foot or in the coach, with time to get off and explore at each stop.
Are the tours offered accessible to wheelchair users?
This very much depends on your needs and the tour itinerary. The best thing to do is to get in touch with us for more info, by ‘phone, email or using the online chat that will appear on the page when you’re looking at the tour.
If there’s an entrance fee to be paid is that included in the price?
Yes. Sometimes you’ll be visiting natural sites that are managed by people like the National Trust, or having a look around a big country house. Entrance tickets and fees will be part of the excursion package for you.
Will we have to queue if we’re visiting somewhere as part of these tours?
As you’re part of a pre-organised group tour, you will normally bypass the usual entrance queue, which means you’ll be maximising your time on site to explore and be guided around.
Do I get to see things I wouldn’t normally get to see if I went by myself?
Nothing beats listening to a real person than trying to navigate a map whilst trying to use one of those audio guide gadgets. It also means you can ask questions and get little extra insights and anecdotes too.
Will there be any free time for us to do our own thing?
Many of the tours give you free time. That means you can carry on looking round where you are, relax and have a coffee, do a spot of shopping or explore a bit more. It’s totally up to you.
Are these city trips and tours suitable for children?
Any age restrictions or requirements will be specified in the full details sections of each individual tour page. Usually, under 18s will need to be accompanied by a paying adult.
Is there a departure point for these tours near me?
Many of the day trips head out from Central London. For other tours you’ll be meeting at a predefined spot in the location you’ll be touring.
