Should I buy this experience?

Who it's for

If you’re at that point in your life when you can’t remember the last time the two of you did something together (and we mean just you two), then we reckon it’s about time you thought about a romantic night away. And far from meaning you have to stay in a hotel, we’ve come up with some more ‘off the wall’ ideas for somewhere cute and snuggly to stay.

Who it's not for

We created this selection of idyllic places to stay so you can get close to your partner, gaze into their eyes and whisper sweet nothings to them - partly because there might not be a telly or wifi, so you might actually have to resort to speaking to each other. If this strikes fear into your heart, these romantic getaways might not be for you and you prefer to get a gang of your mates together and go on a group outdoor activity adventure instead!

Romantic Breaks FAQs

Do I need a romantic break?

In a word, yes! Some might say stopping to buy your other half some chocs on the way home or offering to cook a meal is proof of your love. Now whilst these are all very nice, nothing beats going away on a romantic weekend for two does it?

Are these romantic breaks just for two people?

Well, you know what they say: three’s a crowd and all that. These handpicked breaks are sure to stoke up the romance in your relationship. They're all about slowing down the pace, leaving the stresses of everyday life behind you and enjoying your surroundings and being all soppy.

Isn’t a normal hotel just as romantic?

Of course, romantic getaways mean different things to different people, but with this collection we’ve found places to go and places to stay that are just that little bit different to the norm, yet remaining resolutely romantic to the point of pulling at your heartstrings with cuteness.

Will this weekend getaway cost me a fortune?

Romance doesn’t have to hammer your credit card. Whether it’s a boutique hotel with a very cosy spa for just the two of you, or a weekend staying in a cute as can be Airstream, there’s a romantic break for you!

Is there an ensuite in the accommodation?

This all depends where you choose to stay. Facilities for each venue and accommodation type are detailed on each listing. So if your own private bathroom is a deal breaker for you or your beloved, you can pick the right getaway for you.

What does ‘off grid’ mean?

‘Off grid’ means you are not connected to mains electricity. In the case of our romantic breakaways, that could mean a stay in a yurt in the middle of the Welsh countryside. Don’t worry though, as no mains electricity doesn’t mean no cuppa and no showers. With the wonders of solar energy and candles (how romantic) anything is possible!

Are there kitchen facilities?

We doubt you’ll be into doing much cooking, but most of the accommodation featured here does give you just enough to make a brew or concoct a simple meal. But you’ll probably be more interested in the fact that there’s bound to be a corkscrew, so you can crack open a nice bottle of vino and enjoy the sunset from your balcony, your decking or even your lofty treetop view.

Do we have to take our own bedding?

No. Even in the more rustic of romantic hideaways, linen is provided and the beds are generally made up for you. It might be perched up a tree or at the end of a bumpy farm track, but you want a good night’s sleep at the end of the day don’t you?!

What if it rains?

Stay under the covers and rekindle that passion? If that’s all too much information, those staying somewhere like the Airstream trailers on the Isle of Wight, will find each trailer has its own collection of vintage board games to keep you amused!

Can we park the car easily?

Yes. Even if you can’t drive right outside the entrance to your accommodation (it might be in the middle of a field), the locations all provide parking.

Is a romantic dinner for two included too?

For those of you booking our bijou and gorgeous boutique hotel breaks, dinner is usually part of the package. If not, you can always ask your hosts for recommendations on local eateries/pubs to go to, or even get something tasty delivered?

What about breakfast for us both?

Quite often breakfast is included, be it a sit down affair in the dining room, or a basket of goodies being delivered to your treehouse, tent or yurt!

What is there to do once we’re there?

The idea behind this collection of romantic weekend break ideas is that you kick back, take stock and relax in the calm of your new surroundings. If you’re active types there’s bound to be walking, running and other sports on the doorstep or nearby. But really, these holidays are all about rekindling the love and simply enjoying spending time together.

What time is check in and check out for these romantic breaks?

Please read the full details sections on each individual page for info on things like check-in and check-out times. It’s usually 16:00 arrival and 10:00 departure, but this can vary.

Are these getaways available all year round?

In general yes, but it’s worth checking by reading all the info on the page of the accommodation you fancy going to. If you need any more details, please don’t hesitate to contact us here at Into The Blue by email, online chat or telephone during normal office hours.

Can we bring the kids/dog?

The aim of the game on a romantic getaway is that you leave the pets, the kids and any at home (or more accurately with a responsible adult) and take time for yourselves.

Is there anywhere I book for a romantic weekend near me?

You might have to travel about to find that idyllic setting for a nice, quiet, romantic time away, but you just know it will be well worth it. You can go to lovely places like
  • Stratford upon Avon
  • Buckinghamshire
  • Derbyshire
  • North Wales
  • Isle of Wight
  • Yorkshire

We’re a hopelessly romantic lot and love nothing better than a bit of slushiness, so book your romantic getaway now!
