What Can I Expect
A special delivery just for you - The Postal Museum London tickets and tea deal! All neatly wrapped in one package, the two of you will enjoy entry to this unique and fascinating museum, with a delicious cream tea in a stunning hotel included.
Make your way to the postcode WC1X 0DA in central London and you'll find The Postal Museum run by the Postal Heritage Trust. This knowledgeable and enthusiastic team has created something really rather special in the heart of the capital with this interactive, immersive museum.
From the very first prints of the Penny Black stamp, to funny-looking five-wheeled postal delivery bikes and a plethora of post boxes not just in red, you will be thoroughly enthralled by the permanent collection and temporary exhibitions.
Tickets include a ride on Mail Rail. This miniature railway was built back in the mid 19th century to transport mail from one side of central London to the other. It sounds far-fetched but it really was a thing. It's a bit like an underground tube line, but just for letters and parcels!
Inside the little covered carriages, you'll be taken on a ride of discovery, listening to commentary on how Mail Rail was built and used back in the day. And it's amazing to think you're heading through tunnels under London.
Another highlight for visitors of all ages are the pneumatic tubes. You might have seen these in banks, post offices and even supermarkets. They're used to whisk pouches of cash or mail and so on to a different floor or location. And yes, you can have a go with them!
As well as The Postal Museum tickets, your package also includes a cream tea for two at RAILS at the five-star Great Northern Hotel. Opened in 1854, this was London's first railway hotel and today sits proudly (and very stylishly) on the concourse between St Pancras and King's Cross stations. A great place for a high tea before or after your visit to The Postal Museum.
