What Can I Expect
Prepare to break the speed of sound in the F/A-18 simulator! This is your chance to get a flavour of flying a Hornet, one of the world's most recognised modern jet fighters, at this simulator centre near Newcastle.
The F/A-18 Hornet has been blasting through our skies since 1974. It's a fully-loaded military jet capable of fighting and attacking (hence the designation F/A!). This impressive plane has been pivotal in many a military campaign and, thanks to films like Top Gun, has legendary status.
This simulator is not based on a replica. It has been built around a full-size, full-metal F/A-18 Hornet. Of course, this supersonic jet won't actually be leaving the ground, but with incredible 320-degrees 4k visuals, you will totally be in the moment, feeling like a proper fast jet pilot like Maverick.
The joy of it being a simulated flight is that you can be as reckless as Maverick with absolutely no previous flying experience. Your host (who will be a highly experienced pilot) will show you everything you need to get your Hornet off the ground. Or off the aircraft carrier.
Once airborne and flying in close formation, you'll be able to fly typical missions that these formidable single seater jets undertake day in, day out for air forces around the world. How about some fighter escort work? A spot of close air support? Scoping the area on reconnaissance? If things get heated you'll find yourself chasing tails in an intense air combat exercise that'll have you on the edge of your ejector seat!
We are offering 30 and 60-minute sessions in the F/A-18 simulator. All experiences give you time to push this supersonic, twin-engine, multirole combat jet to its absolute flying limits - including breaking the sound barrier and hitting Mach 1.8, even with a full weapon load. Sounds pretty awesome doesn't it?
