What Can I Expect

Head to Cornwall on a Doc Martin tour! Explore the film locations of the hit ITV series starring Martin Clunes as the grumpy Dr Martin Ellingham on this fun and fact-filled guided walking tour.

Port Isaac, the small Cornish fishing village on the Atlantic coast of north Cornwall, doubles as Portwenn, where the long-running comedy drama is set. It's a lovely place and instantly recognisable as soon as you reach the harbour area, where much of the action takes place.

Your host is a local who has assisted as an extra in several episodes of the show. They know all about how Doc Martin is filmed, what goes on when the TV crew descends on the sleepy village and what happens when the director declares ‘that's a wrap!'. It's truly fascinating to get all the insider info.

Strolling around the picturesque seaside village you'll see Dr Martin's cottage and surgery, the school where his wife Louisa (played by Caroline Catz) teaches, Bert and Al's restaurant, Mrs Tishell's pharmacy and lots more.

As well as being the pretty backdrop for Doc Martin (and featuring in the original Poldark series), Port Isaac is steeped in history. The famous pier was built in King Henry VIII's reign, but the origins go right back to a Celtic settlement in the Middle Ages. The village is renowned for its pilchard fishing and over 90 buildings are listed.

Your Doc Martin tour includes all the main locations that feature on the much-loved programme and lots of interesting local hidden gems too. We love the Temple Bar, a very special little street that's also known as ‘Squeeze-ee-Belly Alley'! We'll leave you with our fave quote from Cornwall's grumpiest doctor : “It's been a long day. Take two aspirin and insult me in the morning!”
