Who needs drab hotel rooms when you can book yourself a romantic getaway? These weekend getaways are all about spending time together. For couples, it’s a chance to put everyday life on hold for a few nights and get all cuddly and cosy together to prove that no matter how long you’ve been a pair, romance isn’t dead!

A romantic night away for you both could be the chance to go completely ‘off grid’ in a teepee in the middle of Wales, or it could be vintage cool on an airstream short break. Or maybe you've set your heart on spending the weekend in a treehouse? Then there’s the cuter-than-cute thatched cottage. All of these ideas for romantic breaks have been carefully researched by the IntotheBlue team, as we’re a hopelessly romantic lot and love nothing better than a bit of slushiness! Read more...

Go on, show them you love them and book a romantic getaway!

Some might say offering to cook a meal is proof of your love, or maybe you stop to by your other half a bunch of flowers on the way home. Now whilst these are all very nice, nothing beats actually going away on a romantic weekend for two. And remember, three’s a crowd as they say, so leave the pets and the kids at home (or more accurately with a responsible adult) and take time for yourselves.

If you’re at that point in your life when you can’t remember the last time the two of you did something together and we mean just you two, then we reckon it’s about time you thought about a romantic night away. And far from meaning you have to stay in a hotel, we’ve come up with some more off the wall ideas for somewhere cute and cosy to stay.

We’ve created the selection of idyllic places to stay where you can get close to your partner, gaze into their eyes and whisper sweet nothings to them - partly because there might not be a telly or wifi, so you might actually have to resort to speaking to each other. But then again, if you’re staying somewhere like the Airstream trailers on the Isle of Wight, each trailer has its own collection of vintage board games to keep you amused!

And to get you in the mood for your retro romantic break, we love this brilliantly styled pop video from Izzy Bizu filmed on the Isle of Wight and featuring the Airstream campsite on the island.

But in all seriousness, these handpicked breaks are sure to stoke up the romance in your relationship, so it’s all about slowing down the pace, leaving the stresses of everyday life behind you and enjoying your surroundings and being all soppy.

Forget doing the dishes, it’s all about the romance...

We doubt you’ll be into doing much cooking, but most of the accommodation featured here does give you just enough to make a brew or concoct a simple meal, but you’ll probably be more interested in the fact that there’s bound to be a corkscrew so you can crack open a nice bottle of vino and enjoy the sunset from your balcony, your decking or even your lofty treetop view.

Of course, romantic getaways mean different things to different people, but with this collection we’ve found places to go and places to stay that are just that little bit different to the norm, yet remaining resolutely romantic to the point of pulling at your heart strings with cuteness. Enjoy your stay!
