What Can I Expect
Ride the Helix slide in London - the highest, tallest and longest slide in the whole wide world! Brought to you by Zip World, this thrilling tunnel slide wraps itself around the celebrated ArcelorMittal Orbit sculpture in London’s Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
You know what they say: what goes up, must come down. In the case of the Helix, you can take the lift or the 455 stairs all the way up to the Orbit’s viewing platform that sits 78m above the ground.
On a good weather day you can see right across the capital. But how do you get down? The Helix slide of course!
The stats say it all. It's 178m long and will have you twisting and turning around one of the red 'arms' of the Orbit a total of 12 times, reaching speeds of up to 15mph. Terrifying, thrilling and totally brilliant all at the same time.
At the top of the slide you'll be kitted out in elbow pads and head cap. If you imagine a bobsleigh ride down an enclosed, narrow metal tube with dark bits and light bits, you've pretty much got the idea. Lie down on your sliding mat, grab the handles and goooooo !
Expect hollers of delights, screams of fear, laughter of joy and big smiles when you conquer this amazing helical slide, which finishes with a near-vertical 50m drop, before levelling out and delivering you to the bottom of the ArcelorMittal Orbit.
