What Can I Expect
The Aero Explorer by Zip World - the UK’s largest zip-coaster is at Penrhyn Quarry and ready for you to ride! A cross between a zip line and a rollercoaster, this is one seriously thrilling aerial ride.
So what is the Aero Explorer? Imagine a single metal rail track that twists and loops around for over 400 metres. At the top of a 10 metre-high tower you’ll find the launch platform. This is where you, kitted out in a body harness, are attached to the rail over your head.
Before you are let loose on the main ride, you’ll climb part way up the spiral access tower to have a little test run on the shorter track, so that you get used to the unique sensation of riding the Aero Explorer.
After climbing the stairs back up to the very tippy-top of the tower, you’re ready for your first full run…
The Zip World ride technicians will release you and off you go, hurtling along the track. Just like a suspended coaster, your legs are dangling and you get swung into the corners, gathering speed as you go.
Whilst you’re being flung around, you might manage to sneak a look at your surroundings, which take the form of a stunning former quarry site in the heart of Gwynedd. Then again, you might have your eyes firmly shut and be screaming the whole way down?
Luckily, you all have a second go. This time you know what to expect, but that doesn’t lower the adrenaline levels, after all it’s not every day you get go at speeds of up to 30 mph dangling from the Aero Explorer!

- Weight restrictions: minimum 30kg, maximum 110kg
- 1 spectating adult (18 yrs+) is required for every 7 children under 18
Spectators
- Spectators are welcome to watch the action from the reception base

- Food and refreshments can be purchased at the Blondin Restaurant with spectacular views
- Option to pre-book head-cam footage to capture and re-live the adventure for an additional charge payable when booking your date
- If this experience is postponed due to adverse weather conditions, you will be able to reschedule within 12 months but won't be entitled to a refund
