What Can I Expect
Enjoy a wild swim and sauna at Bluewater! Experience open-water swimming in the clear, spring-fed waters of the lake around the Bluewater shopping centre near Dartford in Kent, with the opportunity to relax in the sauna afterwards too.
Refreshing and invigorating. That’s how the open-water bathers at Bluewater describe the experience and we have to go agree! It’s a truly wonderful feeling as you swim freely in the freshwater lake, following the marked routes.
Of course, safety is paramount and there’s always a lifeguard on duty during the wild water swimming sessions. If you’re wondering about the water, it's regularly controlled and tested. As for the temperature, it reaches around 23-degrees in the height of summer, which is perfect for swimming outdoors.
So who can go for a wild swim and sauna at Bluewater? You’ll need to be able to swim 50 metres unaided, be over 18 years old and use a tow float (it might feel odd at first, but attached and adjusted properly it won’t hinder your swimming at all).
The set up for open-water swimming at Hangloose Bluewater is really good. There's free parking, plenty of lockers, hot showers and the access into the lake has been purpose-built.
There’s also a wood-fired sauna with an ice plunge right on the lake shore. We highly recommend the swim and sauna voucher, as you get to relax feeling all cosy in the warmth of the sauna overlooking the water after your lovely, refreshing swim. Yep, going for a wild swim and sauna at Bluewater is pretty idyllic stuff!
