The Swinton Park Country Club & Spa is just superb. The very considered design integrates this contemporary building seamlessly into the Gothic-style features of the main hotel. The feel is very much one of instant relaxation as soon as you walk in. And this is the mood for the whole of your wellness spa visit. This isn't a spa with a heavy footfall, so there's time and space for the limited numbers of guests the spa welcomes each day.

Facilities are excellent and impeccably maintained. The heart of the complex is the 18-metre indoor swimming pool, with a very chilled poolside atmosphere - perfect for doing your lengths and then rewarding yourself with some lounging. Outside there's a smaller 10-metre bio-filtered natural pool filled with oxygenated water for that most refreshing dip, with a cedar hot tub just alongside.

The thermal suite offers the perfect blend of warm and cold sensations to make your body tingle. The aroma steam room and the aroma sauna both infuse seasonal herbs from the hotel's own gardens for a mild, yet fragrant experience. The Finnish sauna gives you that incredible dry heat the Scandi nations are known for and there are experience showers and foot spas to try too.

For total relaxation, three zoned relaxation rooms where peace, reflection and a feeling of overall well-being are the order of the day. Try a sleeping pod or the heated water beds for a laid-back moment of blissful calm. This first floor area is also where you'll find the treatment rooms. Using ethically-minded Bamford products, you'll enjoy a full body scrub to detoxify your skin, in preparation for your body signature massage. Choose the theme that takes your fancy from; destress, detox, recovery, sleep or wellness.

All Swinton Park wellness spa day packages include lunch. This will be taken at The Terrace restaurant, which is part of the country club and spa. Offering fresh and nourishing dining options, lunch is flavoursome and nutritious, using seasonal herbs and vegetables grown in the kitchen garden on the estate.
