What Can I Expect

Wareham river cruise fun! Set sail from Poole Quay on a boat trip to discover the pretty town of Wareham. It's something of a hidden gem in Dorset and this cruise is the perfect way to get there!

Your cruise departs from bustling Poole Quay. You'll be sailing on Dorset Queen, a beautifully restored vintage motor yacht. With a maximum of 40 passengers onboard, the vessel is the ideal size for a trip to Wareham.

Heading west out of the harbour, you'll traverse the Wareham Channel, with Brownsea Island in the distance. You'll pass by Holton Heath on one side and the stunning natural wildlife habitats of Arne on the other. You'll see farms and meadows too, as you make your way gently down the Frome estuary.

You will then continue along the River Frome to dock right next to the South Causeway road bridge, at the Quayside.  This attractive Dorset market town flourished thanks to the easy access to the sea, via the route you've just taken on the boat.

Once you have disembarked, the quay to the heart of the old town is easily do-able on foot, making it easy to explore. Wareham is a wonderful place. It's a Saxon settlement, but there are vestiges of times before that, including remnants of the town walls and ramparts.

The voyage from Poole to Wareham takes just over an hour each way. That gives you enough time to explore the town on arrival, or enjoy your tasty brunch at The Bear if you have chosen the Sunday Brunch Cruise package. The Bear is a cosy Georgian coaching inn right in the heart of Wareham and a great place to eat.

And of course, back onboard Dorset Queen for your return journey, there are fully-stocked bars, including the very popular Prosecco bar. So, sit back, enjoy the view, the company and a drink or two, as you voyage back on your Wareham river cruise! Buy tickets online now.
