What Can I Expect
Tees Barrage paddleboarding - time to try stand up paddleboarding! These great-value vouchers are for a two-hour SUP session at the brilliant Tees Barrage International White Water Centre, perfectly located between Stockton-on-Tees and Middlesborough.
Stand up paddleboarding is an excellent water sport that’s accessible for many. Sure, there’s a bit of knack to it, but with these coached sessions at Tees Barrage you’ll be in good, safe hands and you’re sure to progress.
The minimum age for these experiences is 10 years, so it’s a superb activity for all the family to enjoy together, for small groups of friends or couples. No previous experience is necessary and all the gear (paddle, wetsuit and board) is included for you.
The trick with paddleboarding is to not overthink it. Once you’ve been shown how to hold the paddle and how to use it in the water, it’s a question of getting onto the board. It might all feel a little bit wobbly at first, but as confidence grows you find your feet - and actually, the modern paddleboards are really pretty stable!
Group sizes are kept to a maximum of eight people, so there’s plenty of room for you all and a calm spot on the River Tees will be chosen for these taster sessions. With the encouragement of your instructor and some hints and tips on technique, you’ll soon probably be standing up, paddling forwards and turning with ease.
With excellent on-site facilities (you must pop into the top floor cafe with great views over the river, the paths and bridge), this purpose-built white water centre is a brilliant choice for those wanting to give SUP a go.
