What's Included
- Enjoy a thrilling ride in a Alvis CVR(T) Spartan Tank
- You'll be kitted out in a camo jacket, helmet and some ear defenders
- After a quick briefing you will jump in the back of the modern tank
- Ride in the tank on a purpose built multi-terrain track
- See out of the top, maybe even stand in the turret or the best seat in the house – the commander’s position!
- Rides last approximately 30 minutes

Alvis CVR(T) Spartan Tank
- The tank boasts a Jaguar E-Type, 4.2 litre, 6-cylinder petrol engine with over 200 of horsepower
- Semi-automatic gearbox with 7 forward and reverse gears

- Capable of speeds of 50+ mph forwards and backwards!
What Can I Expect
Get ready to crew up the Spartan on these thrilling tank passenger rides! To ride in this tank you need to be at least 5 ft tall and 12 years old. If you fit the bill, you can get kitted up, climb onboard and be taken for a spin in a tank.
Weighing in at eight tons, the Alvis Spartan CVR (T) fully tracked, armoured personnel carrier is what the bods in the know call a ‘sports tank’. It’s not about brute force, it’s about agility and moving soldiers around battlefields safely.
And when we say agile, we mean it. A Spartan with an expert driver at the wheel can reach speeds of up to 50 mph - and that’s going forwards AND backwards. Pretty impressive eh?
That’s why we are offering these rides in a Spartan tank. As one of six ‘crew’, you get to witness just what the modern tanks are capable of, as you get whisked around a purpose-built tank course as a passenger.
You will be kitted out in an Army-style camo jacket and ear defenders, so you will properly look the part. And as crew riding in the tank, you’ll each get a chance to pop your head out of the turret and even sit in the Commander’s seat, which is the prime spot in a Spartan!
Our tank passenger rides last around 30 minutes and you will spend around an hour at the venue. With lots of tank and military vehicles on site, the day you go on a ride in a tank is going to be a fun and action-packed one!
When Is It Available
- Dates and session times are subject to availability
- Please note due to popularity it is recommended you book well in advance to avoid disappointment, weekends especially get booked up very quickly
- Rugby: Selected weekend and weekdays throughout the year
- Gatwick: Selected Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays between April and September

Suitable For
- Minimum age: 12
- Minimum height: 5ft
- Maximum height: 6ft 4in
- Weight should be in proportion to your height
- Fitness/Health: You should be in reasonable health and able to climb in and out of the vehicle. This experience is not suitable for those with epilepsy, heart complaints or pregnant ladies
- Please note: anyone deemed to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs will not be permitted to participate

- Entry fees are payable if wishing to visit the onsite museum
