What Can I Expect
Fully tracked and firing - this is the Tank Firing and Driving experience at the Gatwick Aviation Museum! A superb venue right at the end of the runway of London Gatwick Airport, these sessions for two are just the best fun for duos!
Your mission, as a pair, is to drive and then fire a Scorpion tank. These British-built reconnaissance tanks have seen military action all over the world and are known for being agile and quick on their tracks.
You have to be 18 or over with a full licence to drive the Scorpion, but anyone 12 years or over can be gunner (which is what makes this experience great for grown ups and teens to do together). If you go for the 'Two Drive' voucher option, both of you will get to drive and fire the 76mm turret gun.
Out in the 20-acre event field, you will crew this FV101 tank together. The driver’s first task is to negotiate the terrain, to then manoeuvre and position the tank in front of your target.
Now it’s over to the gunner to set up the 76mm gun, turn the turret to line up the shot and take fire. Then it’s up to the driver to get you out there pretty darned quick before the enemy realises what’s going on!
These tank firing and driving missions at this fantastic Gatwick venue in West Sussex are great fun - and all drivers can visit the on-site Gatwick Aviation Museum for free on the day of your experience.
