What Can I Expect
Tank driving experiences at the exceptional location of Gatwick Aviation Museum in West Sussex! This is your chance to drive a Spartan tank on the event field just 300 yards from the end of the runway…
The Alvis CVR(T) Spartan tank is a combat reconnaissance vehicle, used to transport personnel quickly and efficiently, often in live battle zones. Thankfully, you won’t be in a war zone for this experience, but you will have over 20-acres to play in, so there’s plenty of room for you to rumble around in your fully-tracked tank.
And we have to say, with seven forward and seven reverse gears, finger-tip steering controls and an independent braking system, the Spartans are pretty exhilarating to drive, as they can reach speeds of up to 50 mph - and that’s going forwards or backwards!
In addition to your drive, all drivers on these sessions get free entry to the Gatwick air museum. Inside the large hangar, you’ll find lots of aircraft and parts, memorabilia, a fascinating display on the history of Gatwick Airport and the lovely in-house Galley cafe and gift shop.
As well as offering the tank driving experience for this fab Gatwick location, we also have a voucher for one driver plus a passenger, so you can invite anyone from the age of twelve years old to join you for the ride as you drive, then head to the Gatwick aircraft museum with them after.
