What Can I Expect

Legendary Spitfire flights from North Weald in Essex! Fly in a two-seater Spitfire from this historic former RAF Battle of Britain base for the vintage flying experience of your life, with 30, 40 and 55-minute experiences available.

The Spitfire needs no introduction. With that distinctive Merlin engine growl and those unique elliptical wings, everyone stops to stare when a Spitfire flies past. These incredible experiences give you the chance to be the one in the passenger seat of these iconic WW2 aircraft.

Flights are operated by Aero Legends, with a roster of world-renowned pilots ready to take you on your once-in-a-lifetime flight from North Weald Airfield.

The fleet comprises three Spitfires, including the Mk. IXe ‘St George’, a single seater that is a regular at air shows and displays, as well as air-to-air experiences, film work and so on. There are also two Mk. IXT Spitfires, which, as two seaters, are the ones used for these epic experience flights.

NH341 ‘Elizabeth’ served exclusively with the Royal Canadian Air Force’s 411 ‘Grizzly Bear’ squadron and downed several ME109s during her many missions and patrols. Her sister Spitfire MJ444 ‘Lady Luck’ is the latest two seater to join the North Weald fleet and also served with RCAF squadrons during her working career.

Both Spitfires are an absolute unmitigated delight to fly in. And both are dual control, so don’t be surprised if, during your flight, your pilot asks if you’d like to ‘take the controls’ and have a go at flying!

We are offering ‘Patrol’ flights around the local Essex area, ‘Battle of Britain’ flights with a route over WW2 airfields and ‘White Cliffs of Dover’ flights to track the north Kent coast down to the famous cliffs. Whichever Spitfire flight itinerary from North Weald you choose, it’s going to be an extraordinary day!
