What Can I Expect

Fulfill your lifelong Spitfire dream flying straight out of Compton Abbas Airfield to soar over the stunning coast and countryside of the South West! Book your once-in-a-lifetime 30, 40 or 55-minute experience and get ready to fly.

Aero Legends operates these seasonal flights in their two seater Spitfires from the wonderful Compton Abbas airfield, which is owned by Guy Ritchie, who also owns neighbouring Ashcombe Estate.

Perched on a chalk hilltop of Cranborne Chase, it’s easily the best spot to fly in a Spitfire in the whole of the South West region. As soon as you're airborne, it’s literally just minutes before you reach the dramatic Jurassic coastline.

What’s more, this is all unrestricted airspace. That means more freedom with your flight plan and the distinct possibility of experiencing some aerobatic moves during your flight if you’re up for it. You even get a chance to handle the controls for a short time!

The Aero Legends fleet includes NH341 ‘Elizabeth’. This magnificent Spitfire served with Air Forces and has been fully restored to be in glorious flying condition in two-seater configuration, ready to take the Dorset skies and, along with their skilled pilots, show you what they can do.

Whether you head towards Shaftesbury before looping back around to the Compton Abbas airfield on a 30-minute experience, or your track a route down flying as far as or even around the Needles and the Isle of Wight on the longer flights, the sensations of flying in a WW2 Spitfire are truly unforgettable and an experience that will stay with you long after you land.
