What Can I Expect
Rock Climbing Taster Sessions! Discover the thrill of scaling natural rock faces in the heart of South Wales.
You will meet your instructor at the Dinas Rock car park before heading out into the beautiful surrounding woodlands. This rugged landscape offers the perfect setting for your first outdoor climbing adventure.
Your 2.5-hour session is designed specifically for beginners and first-timers. There is no need for previous experience, as the focus is entirely on fun, safety, and support. You’ll start by getting kitted out with all the professional gear provided. Once you are ready, your expert instructor will introduce you to essential skills like belaying and effective grip techniques.
Planning your route is a big part of the challenge. You will learn how to look ahead and map out your moves as you ascend the limestone crags. Climbing is a fantastic full-body workout that builds strength and balance. It’s just as much a mental game as a physical one, requiring focus and problem-solving at every step.
The sense of achievement when you reach a new height is truly unmatched. You will be encouraged every step of the way by your guide and fellow climbers in your group.
It is a brilliant way to enjoy the stunning natural beauty of South Wales. Whether you are coming alone or with friends, you are sure to leave with a newfound confidence and a few new skills.

- Participants meet at the Dinas Rock car park and are guided to natural climbing areas within the surrounding woodlands
Suitable For
- Minimum age 8 years
- Under 18's must be accompanied on site
- Maximum weight limit is 22 stone 11 lbs (145kg)
- This experience is ideal for beginners, individuals, or groups looking for a first-time outdoor climbing adventure
Spectators
- Spectators are welcome to enjoy the surrounding Dinas Rock park area, though the climbing takes place at natural crags within the woods
Anything Else
- It is advised to bring warm clothing suitable for outdoor activity and comfortable footwear for climbing
- You should also bring a packed lunch and plenty of water to stay hydrated
