What Can I Expect
Ride the white-knuckle quarry karts! This is the UK’s first mountain karting experience and it’s all happening at Llechwedd Slate Quarry by Zip World and it is, quite frankly, full-on.
The adrenalin-o-meter has been maxed out on this one. You will be riding these unique downhill karts on the three-kilometre winding, dust-filled route from the top of the slate mountain to the bottom.
The quarry karts have a low-to-the-ground tricycle design, with chunky off-road tyres to cope with all those loose slate chips. There’s no engine. No pedals. In fact, apart from handlebar front-wheel steering and brakes, there’s not much else.
That’s why you need a full face helmet to be a quarry kart rider. Once you put your feet on the footrests and you launch yourself off, it’s down the hill all the way, at speeds of up to 25 mph!
If you use your bodyweight to help you take those slippery-slidey Welsh slate corners, you’ll be able to drift the quarry kart, for that extra cool fast and furious feel.
But you don’t have to be nifty-drifty to have an absolute ball on these mountain karts. As long as you’re 15 years old or over and are up for a seriously adrenaline-filled mountain activity, you’ll love it.
What’s more, the karts are popped onto a trailer and you hop into the ex-Army truck to be taken all the way up to the start point of the track, ready to take on the descent. Twice! Book your quarry kart experience now and get ready for your double ride!
