What Can I Expect
Sunday lunch in your own, private compartment on a vintage steam train in Derbyshire! Reserve for two or four of you to enjoy a traditional roast whilst you journey together on the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway.
Having a compartment all to yourself on a train is fab. Back in the day, many coaches featured individual compartments, allowing passengers to travel in tranquility and peace - a far cry from the open carriages we see today.
For your Sunday lunch departure you will be welcomed aboard by the train service team, who will show you to your private compartment. The table will be dressed and ready for luncheon, right down to the crockery and cutlery laid out on crisp linen tablecloths.
Lunch commences with a starter such as soup with a roll and butter. Your traditional roast, featuring locally sourced meat, will be served with Yorkshire puddings (in the Peak District we’re not that far away after all!) and vegetables.
Following dessert, the wait staff will take orders for tea and coffee, which will be served with petits fours to round off your delicious Sunday meal together in your comfy and exclusive compartment.
The journey is very much part of the experience and takes around an hour and a half all told, as you make your way gently along the heritage line to Duffield and back.
