What Can I Expect

Take afternoon tea in a private train compartment on the Ecclesbourne Valley heritage railway! We have vouchers for two or four of you to be in your own, exclusive compartment for the duration of your return journey.

Before open-plan train carriages became the norm, many British trains had small, private compartments with sliding doors onto the corridor. Inside you’d find a pair of comfy bench seats, wooden panels and wire luggage racks.

Quiet and private, save for the clickety-clack of the train on the tracks, travelling in a compartment brings back memories for many of us. And that’s where these exclusive afternoon tea vouchers come in…

You will be allocated your very own compartment onboard the vintage carriages. The attentive train staff will welcome you aboard and your platter of afternoon sweet and savoury goodies will be served at your table in your compartment.

Perfect for a special celebration, it will be just you and your invited guest or guests in the private compartment for afternoon tea. So, sit back and relax, watch the Derbyshire go by as you enjoy the slower pace of life on the peaceful return voyage between Wirksworth and Duffield whilst sipping tea and eating cakes!
