What Can I Expect

A colourful name for a colourful painter! Rosso grew up in Sicily before moving to London to study art. The award-winning painter specialises in portraits and these online lessons will show you the methods and techniques used to create both realistic and a more ‘freestyle' way of painting people.

Each painting starts with research, sketching and seeking out models to paint. Rosso will let you explore her world and her way of seeing people when she paints. The course covers everything from classic techniques, to a more figurative approach. It's informative, creative and fascinating to watch.

We love Rosso's distinctive style in the colourful portrait paintings that feature dynamic, eye-catching backgrounds, reminiscent of Frida Kahlo. A serene woman with flowers in her dark, curly locks blends into the flowery scene. Other portraits in Rosso's exhibitions have a dreamy, almost ethereal feel to them.

You will work alongside the video content to create your own portraits in your own style from start to finish. You will have six assignments, related to the six video modules. • Brushes: A variety of brushes, including: a. flat synthetic brushes for acrylics/oil (large to very small, for finer details) b. Pointed round (hog, sable and/or synthetic) c. Sable brushes (for finer details, later stages of painting) d. Hog brushes e. Fan brushes (optional).
