What Can I Expect
Tuck into cream tea on the Nene Valley Railway with all the classic sights, sounds and smells of traditional steam and diesel locomotives at this much-loved heritage railway running through the picturesque Nene Valley!
These vouchers for two or four people are for you to experience a return journey on this historic line, with seating in traditional compartments and a delicious boxed cream tea for you to enjoy with a miniature bottle of Prosecco.
Your train will be steam-hauled, harking back to the golden era of train travel, when this line operated cross-country passenger services as the Northampton & Peterborough Railway.
Opening as the Nene Valley heritage line in 1974, the line covers 8 miles, from Peterborough in the east, through Orton Mere, Overton and Wansford (the main HQ), to the turnaround point deep in the countryside at Yarford.
The route passes alongside the delightful Nene Valley water meadows, lakes and country parks, as well as travelling through the 617 yard, brick-lined, Victorian-built Wansford tunnel, which is one of the longest on any UK preserved railway.
You’ll see all of this from your comfy compartment seat. And make sure you keep a look out for other locomotives and wagons. Nene Valley is famous for its rare and vintage rolling stock from all over Europe!
