What Can I Expect

Make a date for Mega SUP in Southampton! These supersized stand up paddleboards are great fun and we are offering sessions out on a mega SUP for up to four of you at once.

Whoever invented these big boards is a genius. Longer and wider than your usual paddle board, these mega boards are massively stable out on the water. So much so that they can easily take up to four adults onboard.

This Southampton operator has chosen the Jumbo board by family-owned Sandbanks Style. It's ideal for four of you to get out and about on Southampton's Solent waters, being stable and strong. They recommend at least two of you paddle, but all of you can paddle at the same time too. It makes it more chaotic, but very amusing too!

The name of the game is to all get up and get going on this 14ft long and 60” wide SUP. Instructors will be on hand to help and guide you, as there is a bit of knack to get on the thing. Once you're all on, it's time to paddle. And once again, instructors will make sure you've got the right basic technique.

Then it's time for the paddle party to begin! As you might imagine, up to four of you all on one SUP is going to be quite unpredictable, but totally entertaining. No doubt there will be banter and laughs abound as you paddle around the bay.

During your Mega SUP session, instructors will get you involved in big paddle games and challenges which will (hopefully) mean you working as a team to win. It's all done in good humour and with lots of smiling faces.

Availability

• Weekday and weekends throughout the year
• Dates and session times are subject to availability
• Low and mid tides are best as the water is usually flatter than at high tide, although sessions can operate in all tides

Suitable For

• Minimum age 10
• Under 18s must have an adult present for the duration of the session
• A good, general level of fitness is required
• Participants must be able to swim 50m unaided and be able to tread water

Spectators

• Spectators are welcome

Anything Else

• Wetsuit hire is not included, wetsuit & boot hire can be arranged if needed for an additional £10 per person, this must be booked in advance via email
• Participants should bring a towel and swimsuit/shorts
• The main location has both male and female toilet facilities, and an outside shower
• In adverse weather conditions an alternative location (without facilities) may be used
