What Can I Expect

Luxury and classic car driving in Derbyshire! Go for a spot of motoring in your choice (or choices!) of British-made luxury or car classic. This is quintessential British motoring at its very best, with you at the wheel.

Your experience takes place at the Derwent Works in the picturesque Derbyshire village of Ambergate. This former factory is now home to a large collection of British motor cars through the ages. All packages include entrance tickets for you and one guest to visit the living museum as part of your experience.

As for the cars to drive, we've picked off the cream of the crop for you. The line-up of motors are all from the museum's fleet, so it's a real honour to be able to actually drive them and not just look at them on display.

The luxury classic grand tourers were built to be driven. Back in the day they cruised effortlessly along Britain's new network of motorways in the maximum of comfort. This was executive motoring in its early days, with posh folk and business types snapping up the latest Jaguars and Rolls-Royces.

And then there are the premium and classic ranges. Have a browse and you'll see many of the nation's favourite cars feature. From funky little Hillman Imps, to the back-to-the-80s Ford Escort Cabriolet, there are some real corkers in these collections!

You'll be driving the cars on a special circuit. It actually takes in the internal roads around the factory, so you're well away from the hustle and bustle of the public roads. The set-up has been cleverly done to resemble a street scene from those carefree days of motoring, making your drive all the more authentic.

You choose which car or cars you'd like to drive for a 20-minute session at the wheel of each. Of course, these cars were the height of modernity in their heyday, but prepare yourself for heavy steering, manual gearboxes and no fancy driver aids. Fabulous fun on these luxury and classic car driving days in Derbyshire.

Brilliant experience driving the old Rover. A real bonus to look round the museum too.
