What Can I Expect

Fly in a real fighter jet! These incredible fast-jet experiences are exclusive to Into The Blue and offer a range of flights in a military Strikemaster jet from North Weald Airfield in Essex. 

The 167 Strikemaster is a stroke of light attack aircraft genius. Whilst being neither the fastest, nor the most advanced of all fighter jets, the Strikemaster’s brilliance was in its simplicity and good design.

The British Aircraft Corporation (BAC) took the Jet Provost, a renowned trainer aircraft, then armed it and beefed it up to become the Strikemaster, capable of 480 mph, with dual controls and dual ejector seats. And that’s what made it a veritable Cold War hero from the 60s right through to the mid-80s.

Now you can experience fast-jet flying for yourself with these incredible flights in the Strikemaster. Fully CAA-approved, this is a rare chance to feel what it’s like to fly a light attack aircraft.

We are offering a trio of flight experiences for you, including options to max out on the G-forces or the speed if you dare!

Unusually for fighter jets, the Strikemaster has side-by-side (rather than tandem) seating, so you can observe everything your pilot does before, during and after your flight, which is pretty amazing.

All participants will get a full pre-flight briefing (including about how the live ejector seats work!) and during all flights there will be the opportunity to take control and actually be in command of the Strikemaster, which is a very special moment indeed.

  • An original WW2 Battle of Britain Airfield conveniently located 20 minutes from central London by road and rail

Suitable For

  • Age Limit: 18 Years or Older
  • Height restrictions: Minimum 157cm (5ft 2) Maximum: 189cm (6ft 2½)
  • Note: If outside (but close to) these height requirements, it may still be possible to fly, but the candidate will need to be assessed by Jet Legends staff, sitting in the actual aircraft

Weight Limitations

  • The aircraft are fitted with live ejection seats for which the weight limitations (including all flying clothing) are: Minimum 57kg, Maximum 102.3kg
  • The minimum kit that we can equip you with is 2.3kg, therefore, the maximum weight limit is 100kg, or 220lbs or 15st 10lbs

Medical

  • The passenger will be required to sign an undertaking that they have no medical condition which would affect their ability to undertake the proposed activity
  • Specific medical conditions are stated on the  consent form. As a guide, if you are fit to drive, you should be fit to fly.

Anything Else

  • In-flight video options and flight length extensions are available to pre-book online, or upgrade on the day
