What Can I Expect

Multigenerational fun with our family 747 simulator experience in Manchester! A chance for all the clan to virtually fly a legendary Boeing 747-400 at Manchester Barton Aerodrome, with these very special vouchers valid for up to four or six of you together.

This is no ordinary simulator. It was built using an actual ex-British Airways 747. Retired from flying around the world in 2020, the whole upper deck of this long-range, wide-body airliner has been transformed into this amazing simulator.

That means as well as the full-sized flight deck, you’ve got a business class cabin with ambient lighting and those reclining business-class beds. It is really impressive. And as guests, you’ll be able to try out those genuine BA pods!

In fact, the time in the simulator is yours to share as you wish. As well as occupying the all-important Captain’s seat, (with your instructor in the First Officer spot), there are two ‘jump seats’ in a Boeing 747-400 cockpit, ideal for friends and family to watch, whilst others relax in those upper deck seats!

We have vouchers for 45- or 90-minute family sessions in this incredible Manchester 747 simulator, so kids and adults can all take it in turns to fly the simulator for a scenic flight, practice your take offs, or try landing at tricky Innsbruck Airport - just some of the challenges families love.

And Manchester Barton Aerodrome is a great base for a family simulator day. There’s an on-site cafe and with over 100 resident aircraft including Police and Air Ambulance helicopters, there’s always lots to see on the runway too.

Suitable For

  • Minimum age 7 years
  • Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult
  • Younger children may need to sit on the adult’s lap or use a booster seat and the adult is responsible for ensuring they follow all crew instructions
  • Children may only touch cockpit controls when invited and must follow the instructor’s directions. If the instructor feels a child cannot safely participate or suitable seating isn’t possible, they may be asked to take part as a spectator only 
  • Due to space constraints most wheelchairs will not fit into the flight deck. Users must be able to make their way unaided from the cabin into the front cockpit seat

  • Access is limited to the four or six person group; external viewing is not permitted
