What Can I Expect

Join Mr & Mrs Claus and the elves for a magical Santa Train experience at Ecclesbourne Valley Railway! This year these wonderfully festive journeys take place from the end of November until Christmas Eve.

Watch as your little ones’ faces light up with joy as steam fills the air and yuletide joy is everywhere when you step aboard Derbyshire’s favourite Santa Express service. From the moment you arrive at Wirksworth station, the festive cheer is in full gear with illuminations and music.

Ecclesbourne Valley Railway is offering tickets for two and four seated in open-plan carriages, or you can go premium for a private compartment for up to six for your steam-hauled enchanted voyage, which includes time for photos with Santa too.

All Santa train passengers are treated to a delicious hot chocolate and cookie, with younger passengers each getting a gift from Father Christmas.

Accompanying Santa onboard will be a team of cheeky elves (very entertaining!), Mrs Claus (who is always full of festive cheer), a reindeer (don’t forget to buy your reindeer food at the station before departure) and there may even be the odd snowflake on the platform too!

With Christmas carol singalongs, games, Christmas wish tree, letter writing to Santa and more, Ecclesbourne Valley Railway is a huge favourite with families for Santa Special Enchanted Journey departures in Derbyshire.
