What Can I Expect
All aboard the Derbyshire Countryman for a cream tea! Enjoy a return steam train journey along the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway, with delicious cream tea treats served at your table.
The Derbyshire Countryman’s restored carriages offer comfort in spacious surroundings, with tables dressed for high tea, including porcelain crockery and linen tablecloths. You will be welcomed onboard by the waiting staff, who will show you to your seat.
Our top tip : if you’re two travelling, go for the exclusive option and you’ll be in an individual compartment by yourselves. Perfect for that romantic outing for couples!
Local produce is at the forefront of these Derbyshire cream teas on the move, with freshly baked scones from The Bakewell Bakery (yes, home to the famous tart of the same name!) and locally made cake too.
Taylor’s of Harrogate teas and coffees are served alongside your cream tea and the Derbyshire Countryman boasts a licensed bar, so you can order further alcoholic or non-alcoholic drinks during your experience.
On your return voyage setting off from the station yard at Wirksworth, you’ll travel along the line through Idridgehay and Shottle halts to Duffield, where you will pull up in your steam train alongside National Rail mainline services to Derby, Matlock, Sheffield and London St Pancras.
