What Can I Expect
Combine steam trains with wine tasting on these delightful Churnet Valley Railway wine tasting experiences! Hosted by your onboard wine expert, you’ll sample at least five carefully curated wines.
What makes wine tasting at Churnet Valley unique is that it takes place during your wonderful steam train journey along this heritage railway line. What could be more pleasant than trundling through the Staffordshire countryside whilst sipping wine?
Wines will be served at your table, along with canapés for you to nibble on. Your sommelier host will introduce each wine, talk about the grape varieties, offer food pairing suggestions and, most importantly, tell you where you can buy the wine.
We love the fact that these are excellent wines selected from popular High Street, supermarket and on-line retailers, making them accessible for all - and easy for you to buy and enjoy again!
The Churnet Valley Railway wine tasting steam train journeys depart from Froghall Station at 18:30, returning at around 20:30, giving you plenty of time to enjoy the steam-hauled trip and get to know some new wines.
Opting for the ‘Exclusive for Two’ voucher guarantees a private table for the two of you (no sharing) and you get to take a bottle of white, red or sparkling wine with you to enjoy at home. A truly lovely gift for those who appreciate the nostalgia of steam and the taste of a good wine!
