Itinerary
What Can I Expect
Steam railway and vineyard day! This wonderful experience combines the nostalgia of heritage rail with the sophisticated charm of an English vineyard.
You’ll start your day at Chinnor Station, where the smell of coal smoke and the hiss of steam set the scene. Board the Chinnor & Princes Risborough Railway for a 90-minute return journey through the rolling Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire countryside.
The train travels 7.5 miles to Princes Risborough Station, where you can hop off to snap a few photos before heading back. Your tickets provide unlimited travel throughout the day, so you can really soak up the vintage atmosphere.
Once you’ve finished your rail adventure, it’s just a short 11-minute drive to the lovely Daws Hill Vineyard. This boutique three-acre site is home to around 5,000 vines, specialising in high-quality English sparkling wines.
Your guided tour takes you on a fascinating journey from vine to bottle, explaining how classic Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes are transformed. You’ll explore the traditional methods used to create these award-winning bubbles in the heart of the Chilterns.
The highlight for many is the guided tasting, where you’ll sample the vineyard’s best sparkling wines under expert guidance. To round off your visit, you’ll enjoy a delicious, traditional ploughman’s meal served in this peaceful rural setting.
It is the ultimate way to spend a day, blending local history with the very best of British viticulture. Whether you're a train enthusiast or a wine lover, this day out in the hills is sure to delight.
