What Can I Expect
Bush Craft Taster South Wales! Get back to basics and discover the art of wilderness survival in the stunning surroundings of Dinas Rock.
Your adventure begins at the car park, where you’ll meet your expert instructor before heading into the lush woodlands and riversides. This 2.5-hour session is the perfect introduction for beginners who want to connect with nature in a practical, hands-on way.
You will start by learning the essential skill of shelter building using materials found on the forest floor. There is a real sense of accomplishment in creating a sturdy haven from nothing but branches and leaves.
Next, you’ll tackle the art of fire lighting, a fundamental skill for any outdoor enthusiast. Your instructor will guide you through the techniques needed to produce that first spark and keep a flame going. There is something incredibly meditative about focusing on these simple, vital tasks away from the distractions of modern life. Once your fire is roaring, it’s time to enjoy the simple pleasures of the outdoors.
You’ll brew up some fresh tea and toast marshmallows over the flames you created yourself. It’s a wonderful moment to relax, chat with your group, and soak in the peaceful Welsh landscape.
By the end of the session, you’ll have boosted your confidence and picked up techniques that stay with you forever. It’s an experience that promotes mindfulness and well-being while teaching you how to thrive in the wild.

Location

- Participants will meet at the Dinas Rock car park to begin their adventure into the surrounding woodlands and riverside
Suitable For
- Minimum age 8 years
- Under 18's must be accompanied on site
- This session is designed for beginners and first-time adventurers. It involves some physical activity like gathering materials and building shelters
Spectators
- Please check at the time of booking regarding spectator access to the woodland session area
Anything Else
- It is advised to bring warm clothing suitable for outdoor activity and comfortable footwear for varied terrain
- You should also pack water for hydration and snacks if you wish
