What Can I Expect

Go on patrol when you're scrambled for a Battle of Britain Harvard experience! History buffs will adore these packages, which will see you flying daring aerial missions over classic Battle of Britain airfields.

During World War Two, dozens of strategic fighter bases dotted the landscape around the east and south-east of the country. Their mission was to protect British soil from invasion by patrolling the skies. These incredible experiences pick up on that theme, giving you a very real insight to the working day of a Battle of Britain fighter pilot.

First up is the morning briefing. You'll chat about your mission for the day, including profiling and planning. At any given moment you need to be ready to be scrambled - you never know when the Luftwaffe would have been on an aerial attack.

When the word comes, it's out to the Harvard to get airborne and into reconnaissance and patrol mode as soon as possible. And make no mistake, you will be doing the majority of the flying!

You're charged with patrolling ‘The Wash' from RAF Glatton at Peterborough, through RAF Coningsby and as far as RAF Marham and return.

At some point during your one-hour surveillance flight, you'll be treated to a few primary fighter moves. If you engaged in a dogfight with a Messer 109, these are the sort of aerobatic tricks you'd need to pull out of the bag to come out on top. It's all pretty exhilarating stuff, we have to say.

Arriving back at base, you'll undertake a full de-brief. Having succeeded on your first Battle of Britain Harvard experience flight, your flying instructor will sign off your log book as mission accomplished. Good work!
