What Can I Expect

Drive a 360 Modena and see if you can reign in this well-heeled prancing horse! Offered at the Bovingdon Airfield circuit near Hemel Hempstead, you get your hands on this delightful Ferrari for 4 or 8 whole laps. Pure joy.

When the 360 Modena was showcased at the 1999 Geneva Motor Show it divided opinion. The 'marmite' Modena was hailed as revolutionary by some and a bit 'meh' by others who considered it not a worthy successor to the seminal 355.

The 360 Modena's harshest critics (including Clarkson) hated the new design. Gone were the pop-up headlights. Gone was the large front grille. In came a raised nose (to avoid those Ferrari on speed humps and car park entry ramp scrapes) and in came a new, more simple design.

These changes were not without reason. The new curvier design was all about aerodynamics, with the 360 Modena boasting superb downforce, helped by the fact that this Ferrari had the first all-aluminium body. It was also the first to have continuous damper control, making it stick like day-old spaghetti in Nona's pan when going round corners.

Dare we say it, the 360 was the first Ferrari that could be called practical and reliable. Admittedly, the 'F1 electro hydraulic semi-automatic gear shift' was a bit of a clunky prototype to today's slick paddleshift supercars. But fear not Ferrari fans, the 360 you'll be driving is one of the six-speed manuals that got all the praise.

Your 360 drive day starts with a briefing, followed by a session out in a performance saloon as a passenger. Three sighting lap to check out the lay of the land and then one at high speed to give you a real idea of the racing line. Then it's over to you in the 360.

You get to drive this 360 Modena for 4 or 8 laps of the Bovingdon circuit. Be sure to listen to that exhaust note. Isn't it just exquisite? That's all down to the impeccable 3.6l V8 engine. We very much have a soft spot for the Modena and we think you'll love it too.
