For anyone around the Birmingham area who wants to fly, you’ve got flying schools all over the West Midlands to choose from. From commercial regional airports like Coventry, to small privately-owned airstrips at Fisherwick near Lichfield, there’s plenty of choice!

Steeped in aviation history

Of course, the West Midlands is known for its industrial background in both automotive and aviation engineering. Don’t be surprised if there are vestiges of WW2 at your take off location - the chances are it was an RAF base and it may still have the original pre-war control tower or hangars!
