What Can I Expect

Gliding in Lincolnshire comes in two guises : be towed by a tug plane, or be winched up on a cable. Both are great ways to see the patchwork quilt countryside of the East Midlands (that’s to say Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire!) and we've got a full range of flight options available for you.

Getting airborne from Saltby Airfield near Grantham, we are offering vouchers for a double winch launch experience, or aerotows from 2000, 3000 or 4000ft. In essence, the higher the altitude, the longer you’ll soar through the sky.

Winch tows offer a quicker launch to a lower altitude (albeit a bouncy, noisy ride!). The winches take you from 0-60 mph in around three seconds, providing a blast of adrenaline, before allowing you to take in the spectacular views that a glider flight offers, at a slightly more sedate pace.

On aerotow experiences, the club's tug plane takes you up to your chosen height before detaching, to leave you gliding soundlessly across those blue skies, as your instructor explains and demonstrates the controls of the aircraft.

As well as the flexibility with flight times and aircraft, this popular club plays another ace card by operating seven days a week (weather depending). It is also handily located near to the motorways and major A-roads, making gliding in Lincolnshire accessible for glider fans from all over the East Midlands.
