Golf Rallying in Lincolnshire
The cars used in this session are front wheel drive rally prepared Volkswagen GTi's. The instructors at this school are real rally drivers with driving experience from events all over the world - the rally school owner was a mentor to the late, great Richard Burns so should be able to teach a thing or two! This experience offers great value for money as the ratio of students to instructors is kept low, ensuring you never have to wait long before behind the wheel of the car again.
The course starts with a welcome and driving theory session. Once kitted out with a helmet your instructor will take you out to show you the layout of the stages, then it's your turn to take to the wheel of the front wheel drive Golf GTi and learn all about cause and control of basic sliding, co-ordinating steering, braking and power on constantly changing loose road surfaces. You'll be spending quite a lot of time sideways, but by the end of the session you will be making real progress as both your confidence and speed grow. After a short break it's back into the Golf for another practice lap and then for the real challenge, your chance to drive against the clock with your instructor assessing your performance.
It's then time for a change of surface as you move onto the faster 1.2 mile tarmac stage. After some demonstration laps from your instructor it's your turn for a session at the wheel. Throughout the experience your instructor will be guiding you around the course offering advice on how to develop your driving techniques. Following a short break you will be back in the Golf for another practice and the all important timed lap and driving assessment. Your half day course finishes with a de-brief and a written appraisal of your driving skills from the instructors for you to take home with you. In total you will be in the car for approximately 40 minutes.
Experience Summary: The course lasts around four hours and includes welcome and driving brief, demonstration laps on loose and tarmac stages, two driving sessions on the loose stage, two driving sessions on the tarmac stage, timed lap and assessment on each stage, debrief and written driving assessment. There is a ratio of four drivers to one instructor.
Availability: Sessions run 09:00 to 13:00 on selected weekdays and most Saturdays throughout the year.
Location: The venue is situated four miles north of Gainsborough, just off the A1.
Requirements: Drivers must hold a full valid driving licence.
Spectators and Facilities: Spectators are welcome to come and watch. There are toilet facilities on site.
