What Can I Expect
Sit in a Mustang! This is your chance to climb into the cockpit of a very special WW2 P-51D Mustang fighter at the renowned Biggin Hill Heritage Hangar in Kent - and enjoy a tour of the hangar too.
You’ll be meeting "Moonbeam McSwine". Named in homage to American triple flying ace Captain William T. Whisner, this P-51 was built by North American Aviation in 1944.
Now fully-restored and fully-airworthy as a two-seater Mustang, ‘Moonbeam McSwine’ is a resplendent sight flying the skies over Kent alongside Spitfires and Hurricanes once again, having played an active role in the Second World War.
A knowledgeable guide will lead you through the aircraft's incredible history and the unique stories behind ‘Moonbeam McSwine’. You’ll learn about the controls and the engineering that made the Mustang a formidable long-range escort fighter.
Of course, the highlight of your experience is the moment you climb onto the wing and into the Mustang’s cockpit. Gripping the controls, you can imagine exactly what it was like for WWII pilots preparing for a mission.
There are plenty of opportunities to capture stunning photos both inside and alongside the aircraft. The polished-aluminium finish and iconic blue nose make "Moonbeam McSwine" a truly photogenic star.
This Sit in a Mustang experience offers a rare insight into the power and precision of this very special Mustang ‘Moonbeam McSwine’. It is a deeply personal and evocative way to connect with wartime aviation history.
