What Can I Expect

Book your place on the RC Flying Bootcamp in Kent! This is your chance to have a go at flying radio controlled model aircraft with half-day, full-day and weekend bootcamps in the heart of Kent near Paddock Wood.

RC flying (or aeromodelling as your Dad might call it!) has been around for decades. Scale models of aircraft are flown using hand-held controllers (often just called ‘radios’). It’s like flying for real, but in miniature.

The controllers have sticks that control throttle, elevators, ailerons and rudder. By moving the sticks, signals are transmitted to the receivers built into the model plane, which in turn send signals to the servos that do the actual movements/controls on the motor and flaps on the model aircraft.

The RC pilot handles taxiing, take off and climb just like a real plane. Once your RC model plane is up and flying, adept pilots can then execute some serious aerobatics with the right aircraft. It’s pretty amazing to watch and even better fun when it’s you flying!

And that is what these RC flying bootcamps are all about. Hosts Dan and Dave designed them specifically to get youngsters (and the big kid parents!) involved in a new hobby. Way better than playing on your phone all day, you will be the one controlling this actual radio controlled aircraft as it whizzes around the Kentish skies.

In case you’re wondering, the model planes used for these bootcamps for beginners are actually dual-controlled using a ‘buddy box’ and you’ll be flying in complete legality on private land at Paddock Wood, so it’s all very safe and secure.

What’s more, if you book for the weekend bootcamp, you are invited to stay on site and you bring along your tent, caravan or motorhome for a full weekend of RC flying fun in Kent!
