What Can I Expect
Wine tasting in East Sussex at Sedlescombe Vineyard - guided tours and tastings, with cream tea and lunch add-ons available too!
As England’s oldest organic vineyard, Sedlescombe produces English wines with a passion. The team’s innovative use of biodynamics adds a new flavour to the art of winemaking in this little slice of heaven in East Sussex.
Set in the heart of 1066 country, with far-reaching views towards Battle, the vines grow surrounded by ancient bluebell woods. On these hosted tours you'll discover all there is to know about traditional wine production and the more modern biodynamic techniques too.
After a woodland stroll around this East Sussex vineyard to see the vines, it's time to head to the winery. Here, an expert host will tell you all about how the grapes are pressed and fermented, as well as seeing the blending processes and bottling machinery.
Now it's time to explore the results of all that hard work on your tutored wine tasting. And just like a real wine connoisseur, you'll be given a tasting sheet to note down your thoughts and impressions upon sampling each delectable wine choice.
If you opt for the tour, tasting and lunch package, you will head to the winery restaurant for a ploughman's lunch featuring deliciously fresh, locally-sourced ingredients, served with a glass of house wine.
Those with the tour, tasting and cream tea voucher will enjoy freshly-baked scones with jam and clotted cream, served with a pot of tea or a glass of sparkling wine.
As one guest on the wine tasting tour to Sedlescombe vineyard commented : “We laughed, learned and drank wine in a lovely East Sussex setting, what more could you ask for?”. And we wholeheartedly agree!
