What Can I Expect

Fly in an open-cockpit microlight out of Otherton Airfield in Penkridge! We are offering 20, 30 and 60-minute flights operating out of this small and friendly aerodrome near Stafford for a brilliant initiation in microlighting.

Terry, who is your owner-instructor host based at Otherton, loves flying. His aircraft of choice is the P&M Aviation Quik GTR. It's a quick and nimble, open-cockpit, flex-wing microlight, so you'll be totally immersed in the flying experience, rather than being cocooned away in a closed cockpit.

Otherton is well-placed just on the edge of Penkridge village, equidistant between Stafford and Wolverhampton. What we love most about these microlight flights is the amazing scenery. As soon as you're airborne, you'll spot the busy M6, the winding Staffordshire & Worcestershire canal and the picturesque Cannock Chase.

It might be that all you want to do during your flight is sit back and admire the views (and we can't blame you!). But if you're itching to have a go yourself, you can. Terry will explain what you need to do and then, on his command, he will give you control of the microlight. From this moment on it's you flying the thing!

And if you're really keen on the views and on the flying, we can highly recommend the one-hour flight, which gives you enough time to cruise paste the Ironbridge Gorge and over towards the impressive Black Mountains on the Welsh border.

Back at the Penkridge base after your microlight flight, there'll be a debrief over a nice cup of tea and you'll be presented with your personalised flying certificate. And if it's open, make sure you schedule a stop at the airfield's Flying Pan Kitchen cafe - the captain's full English breakfast is legendary amongst Otherton pilots!
