What Can I Expect

RIB rides Medway-style! Surrounded by historic dockyards, nature preserves and industrial heritage, a boat tour of the River Medway from Gillingham is a great way to see the sights and have fun on the water too.

The Rigid Inflatable Boat (RIB) is the perfect vessel for these Medway rides. Tough and rugged, they are stable and reliable in the water. They can cruise at a gentle pace for sightseeing and they can get the spray flying too, when you open up the throttle on unrestricted waters.

All tours set off from Gillingham Marina. Your skipper will give you an on-shore safety briefing and you'll be given a life jacket to wear. All trips are exclusive charters, so it will just be you and your group onboard.

The RIB Max experience will see you heading down river towards the estuary. You'll pass by some of the many islands and creeks in the Medway. They are uninhabited and have become precious nature reserves for maritime birds and wildlife.

Everywhere you look there are abandoned forts. You'll be able to spot places like Hoo Fort, built by the Victorians to protect the Chatham Dockyard. There are also defences from the both World Wars that have left their marks on the Medway's landscape. It's fascinating stuff.

The Magnificent Medway experience heads upstream to explore the extensive Chatham Dockyard area from the unique perspective of the water. From a Cold War submarine and a 19th century sailing ship, to a WW2 destroyer, you'll cruise past it all. There's lots to see and lots of history too.
