What Can I Expect

Calling all kids - this is your junior military driving experience in Oxfordshire! Drive a fully-tracked BV202 military vehicle around a purpose-built track (or accompany them on passenger ride) in this seriously cool vehicle.

Imagine you live in the Arctic Circle and you want to do a big shop at a certain well-known flat-pack furniture store. Imagine you're a fisherman in a snowbound corner of Norway and you need to transport your catch over land. You need the Volvo BM Bandvgn 202 in your life.

This robust all-terrain vehicle is fully-tracked like a tank, but the clever part is in the design. It's in two parts, with a cab and a trailer that steers from the middle between the two sections. Despite being hefty an even when fully-laden with two tonnes of goods, the BV202 doesn't sink or get stuck in the snow.

In fact, the crew in Bicester tells us that you could drive over someone's foot in this military monster and it wouldn't hurt - but don't try that at home, kids!

Given its agility, power and capability on snow, we reckon Santa Claus would swap his tradition reindeer and open sleigh for one of these, if Greta Thunberg would let him.

In reality, the Bv202's biggest customer was Swedish Army, alongside the Finnish, Canadian and Norwegian forces. The driver and commander would be up front in the cab, whilst the rear trailer could transport up to 10 troops, with the roof racks carrying supplies.

All this makes the BV202 pretty unique to drive and we think any junior military vehicle fan will love this Oxfordshire experience. No licence needed, you just need to be over 12 years old.

And keep it to yourselves Mums and Dads, but you're allowed to buy one of these junior military driving vouchers to have a drive too! You can also buy a passenger ride voucher to accompany someone who's driving.
