What Can I Expect

Helicopter rides over North Yorkshire! As they say around these parts: 'If it's not in Yorkshire, it's not worth visiting'. Perhaps just as well  these sightseeing flights in North Yorkshire take off from Elvington Airfield - right in the heart of the glorious Yorkshire countryside.

Just southeast of York city centre, Elvington airfield is quite a special place, having played a pivotal role during WW2, as home to a heavy bomber RAF squadron and two French squadrons. Then post-war it was all about the Americans.

All this history is what makes the North Yorkshire sightseeing by helicopter so fascinating. You get to hover over Elvington, where the vestiges of its previous important military roles are best seen from the air. And of course, beyond the airfield, you've got gorgeous rolling Yorkshire, with far-reaching views.

Those on the 18 and 25-mile helicopter rides will stay in and around the Elvington area. To fly further afield and see even more classic North Yorkshire sites, we can highly recommend the 30-minute tours. You'll fly as far as York, where you'll be treated to views of some of those fabulous sights and landmarks that could include the Minster, Clifford's Tower, the Shambles and the Transport Museum too.

As we mentioned, all helicopter rides operate out of the historic Elvington Airfield. This is also home to the Yorkshire Air Museum, so all in all a great day out for anyone who is into aviation. The rides are also ideal for anyone who wants to see the best of North Yorkshire from the amazing viewpoint of being a passenger in a helicopter!
