What Can I Expect

The Great Central Railway brunch - a mid-morning steam train departure with all your favourite sweet and savoury brunching treats served at your table in the First Class dining car!

We think this steam train brunch is the best. The timings are all very civilised, as you’ll roll out of Loughborough Great Central Station at a very manageable 10:30. You return at around 12:15, which gives you plenty of time after the brunch trip to explore the whole line with your runabout ticket.

All brunch guests will have a reserved seat at a table of two or four onboard the First Class dining car. Superbly renovated, these carriages are adorned with proper tablecloths and cutlery and you’ll be sitting in a nice armchair-style seat.

Sitting comfortably? Then let your steam train brunch experience start! Your between breakfast and lunch treat includes a glass of sparkling wine, three rounds of tasty treats, as well as tea or coffee. The menu includes a nice fruity yoghurty granola, followed by a decent full English breakfast (with various veggie and salmon options) and viennoiseries too.

As you tuck into your brunch, the steam train will glide along the Great Central line for a full return trip from Loughborough to Leicester North and back. Make sure you take in the views of the charming Charnwood countryside, especially when you head over the viaduct at Swithland Reservoir. Just lovely.

And don’t forget, as a brunch guest you can ride on the scheduled services all day, so after your return to Loughborough, there’s still time to take the train and discover the other stations, amenities and things to see along the line.

Availability

  • Vouchers are valid for use on 1st or 2nd June 2024 only
  • The train will depart from Loughborough Central at 10:30 and return at approximately 12:15
  • Due to popularity it is recommended you book your date as soon as the voucher has been purchased to avoid disappointment

Location

  • Depart from the Great Central Station in Loughborough
  • The train will travel 4 miles before taking in the views from the Swithland viaduct, near Rothley and follows the same route North back to the station
