What Can I Expect

Dennis Sabre fire engine driving at the London Motor Circuit in Hertfordshire! We are offering Blast and Thrill experiences for you to ride in and drive one of the most iconic fire appliances ever built!

The powerful, rugged and reliable Sabre is the last fire engine built by Dennis before the long-established manufacturer closed down. These vehicles are modern legends and hold a very special place in the hearts of the emergency services. Over their years of service, countless lives (and cats!) have been saved by crews in Dennis appliances.

The fire engine you will be driving is genuine ex-UK Fire and Rescue, kitted out to the industry standard, with cradles, water pumps, water reserves, ladder gantry, winches, hoses and all the equipment storage space behind those side locker rolling shutters.

Weighing in at a hefty 13 tonnes, the Dennis has a whopping 8300cc, turbo diesel Cummins engine. The best in the business. The torque, acceleration and handling is off the temperature charts when you think how large and imposing this vehicle is.

You’ll get to test that agility and performance during your drive. Having been taken around the circuit on four reconnaissance laps (there’s plenty of room in that double crew cabin for you as passengers), it’s then over to you.

On the Blast experience you get four laps driving, whilst the Thrill extends your fire engine drive time at this popular Hertfordshire base to eight laps. It's the stuff of driving dreams open to anyone 11 years or older.

Suitable For

• Minimum age 11 years / Maximum age 85 years
• Minimum height 4ft 8in / Maximum height 6ft 2in
• Maximum weight 18 stone / 114.30kg
• Under 18's must have parental / guardian permission
• Participants must be physically fit with no serious health conditions
• Due to the practical and physical nature of this experience, all participants must be able bodied and able to understand and follow verbal instructions

Spectators

• Friends and family are welcome to come along and watch

Anything Else

• Drivers will need to sign a form accepting risk and vehicle damage liability of up to £10,000+VAT.  Alternatively damage liability reduction is available to purchase on the day starting from £27
• It is recommended that you wear casual clothing, and please remember to bring long socks to wear with the fire boots
• Optional Media Pack available to purchase on the day
• Glasses must be worn if needed
• Flat-soled shoes must be worn
