Go for a fly alongside a Hurricane! This experience is all about nostalgia in the air and with the classic Hurricane plane, it doesn't get much more nostalgic than that. The Hurricane was the first monoplane fighter in the Royal Air Force and had a very prominent role in the Battle of Britain.
Your Hurricane taster will see you heading up over the Kent skies in a helicopter. As you get settled and enjoy your bird's eye view of the countryside, keep your ears open for the unmistakable sound of the Merlin engine powered Hurricane. Suddenly she'll be there. This marvellous flying machine will zoom in right up close to you. So close you'll be able to see clearly into the cockpit.
Flying alongside you for around five minutes as part of your 10 minute flight, the Hurricane will pass along each side of the helicopter so you all get to benefit from the fabulous photo opportunities. The Hurricane being flown is housed in hangar three of the air museum at Duxford and is flying in her traditional Battle of Britain colours under the registration HA-C.
Often taking part in air displays, being able to fly alongside this Hurricane gives you privileged access to plane you'd only normally get to see in the hangar or from the ground as she flies overhead. Just make sure you've got your cameras at the ready to capture these great aerial moments forever.
